random thoughts

Okay, so we have made it through the last week without a crib tent. I do have the railing down on the crib to prevent a long fall down but all things considered, Sam is doing quite well. Each day I put him down for nap, he stands up, reaches his arms around my neck in a very tight squeeze, and tries to get out of the crib. I say I love him and it's time for a nappers. He cries, I say love you, night night and walk out the door. I then proceed to stand at the door with a small crack open and watch to make sure he is not trying to climb out. I usually need only open the door once or twice to prevent the climb out and then he lays down and goes to sleep. (if you call less than an hour a nap) He sure is a fiesty little guy. I am counting the days till we reach the end of this "phase."

Levi is such a funny boy these days. Being almost 3, he has started getting a little mouthy. Whenever he does not like what I have to say he does a little spitting thing. It's his way of saying "whatever mom". I really am not enjoying that much. He can't wait for his birfday. He wants a boo birfday cake and a boo prusint. He cracks me up. I am for sure making a birthday cake with blue frosting and am doing my best to find blue presents.

Jakob is star student this week at school. He is thrilled about it. All the pages have been colored and all the family pictures we could attach to one piece of paper are on the bulletin board at school. He is beaming! Today mom and dad got to be the special visiters in his classroom. He wanted us to come and read some books about space. Of course, we did. It was great. He sat on Daddy's lap and smiled from ear to ear the whole time.

It's busy around here. The house it decorated and the kids love all the christmas lights. I am doing my best to remind them that we are celebrating Jesus' birthday and it's not all about presents. I feel so blessed to have these 3 boys and all the craziness they bring. God is teaching me alot about claiming his peace in this time of my life. I pray that each one of you reading this will claim the peace that only Jesus can give and truely enjoy the celebration of the birth of our Lord.

Crib Tent

I believe this is what I need, a crib tent. I did a little research yesterday after Sam climbed out of his crib 3 times before actually taking a nap. I say 3 times but really it would have been many more had I not been standing in the hall peeking through the crack in the doorway making sure he didn't fall to his death. I love this child, really.... I do... but man, a mom can only take so much. His bed was my refuge. I knew I could put him up in his room and he could rest, if not sleep. What's a parent to do?

I say BUY a crib tent! I'll let you know what I decide. In the mean time say a little prayer for this mom.

Thanks

A Few Things

So many things to say... I really must blog more often. I will start with a few favorite quotes from my boys.

Jakob - "My 2 favorite words are please and thank you." (You have to be kidding me?)

Levi - "Droooopy. Dastz my favite." (Droopy, the cartoon, that's my favorite.)

Sam - Can you say momma? He turns, give us a big toothy grin and says as loud as he can "Dadda!"

Here are a few Halloween pics. Sorry they are a little late in coming.

Nightly Prayers

Dear God,
Thank you for this day...
Thank you for the world...the whole wide world... for all the animals in the world, for all the animals in the world.... pause.... (Hey mom, what Jakob we are praying, do you know why I said thank you for the animals two times, no Jakob why, because I wanted to thank Jesus for all the animals that are real and all the animals that are not real, okay Jakob.) Thank you for dragons and dinosaurs and all my toys. Amen (Do you think you should ask Jesus to forgive you for anything Jakob, um.... no I was good all day) In Jesus' name, Amen

You got to love that kid.

Help!

So you want to know where I have been? Under this mountain of laundry. I am still trying to dig my way out. In the last week my car, washing machine, and refrigerator have broken. I am happy to say that I believe they are all fixed. Now I just need to find a part time job in all my free time to pay for everything.

Keep smiling... I am. :)

Happy Birthday to my baby

I am not at all sure when this exactly happened and how the past year has already gone by without me noticing... but my baby is really 1. Time flies is the TRUTH. He was just born yesterday as far as I am concerned. I still remember arriving at the hospital and the nurse taking one look at me and rushing, I mean rushing people, to a delivery room. A mere 45 minutes later Samuel Peter had arrived. Wow, what a year!

My Sweet Boys

If only you could have been a fly on the wall the day these pictures were taken. It was quite the sight! A challenge to say the least. Thank you Nicole - you are amazing! I love every single picture.

Chaos Reigns

A little sneak peak into my life. Living with three little boys can be quite a challenge at times. I will never understand why wrestling, smashing, smushing, and body slamming never gets old but I love them all just the same.
Wish me luck... I have my hands full.

Sweet Baby and a visit to the ER

Tyler Julian arrived Friday morning at 9:25 am. He was a whopping 7lbs. 12 oz. and 21 inches long. (not as big as I thought he would be for a week late) He is beautiful! and I am not just saying that. What a looker!

Sorry for posting the pictures late but we had a few instances around here. An ER visit for the Levite and just chaos all around. Levi is fine. He had an allergic reaction to something and his eye was enormous. The doctor told us very calming to put him in the car and go right to the ER. She also mentioned that we should bring Jakob's epi-pen with us and watch his breathing closely. Still have no real idea what the reaction was from but he is fine.

Now if only Baby Tyler and the ER could have been at the same hospitol. That would have been way to easy.

Baby Tyler has arrived

Mom called a little while ago and baby Tyler Julian is here. 7lbs. 12 oz. I am going to go up and see him as soon as I can. I will post pics when I get back. By the way, Levi is dancing around the kitchen in circles singing "Aunt Kel Kel had her baby, Kel Kel had her baby !!!"

Service Engine Soon

It all began when I turned the key in the ignition and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Can I just say I HATE that light. The possibilities are undless as to what could be wrong. Is my car going to make it to drop Jakob off to preschool or is is going to blow-up somewhere along the way??? Who knows?? So we bring the car in... the only real solution. Bringing the car in means hopefully getting another car so I don't have to sit in the waiting area for 6 hours with three little boys. Not fun. It does still mean that I need to move three, yes 3, carseats from my car to another. Not easy but still better than staying there. My brother, the helpful guy that he is, made a call and I was given a brand new, very expensive (seriously people), extra long, large SUV to drive. Three boys and three carseats later we were on our way. A good 15$ worth of gas later and we were home. The call came that afternoon and my car was an easy fix. It was a good day! I said I would be back in the morning to pick up my car.

So we pile in the brand new, very expesive, very large and long SUV. We back out of the drive way and head down the road. I figure I should replentish the gas I have used. We pull into the gas station as I hear some gagging and yelling coming from the way back. Levi threw up mom! I turn around to see Levi covered in puke and Jakob gagging because he is just that way. I climb on back and clean everybody up. We head back home for clean clothes and then we are off again to return the very expensive, brand new SUV that was just puked in. Getting on the highway was a disaster due to all the construction. I took a wrong turn, went past my exit, turned around and finally pulled into another gas station a good 1/2 hour - 45 minutes later than normal if I had not taken the wrong turn. I get out and start pumping gas because we now really have used 1/2 a tank. I hear another scream from the backseat. He's doing it again mom! FUN, fun! I climb on back again and start cleaning. A little begging on my part to please hold it in till we at least get in our own car and we are off again. We pull up, with the windows down, get out, leaving the windows down, and transfer all three carseats and all three boys. I gave them the keys, payed the bill and headed out! No harm, no foul... right?

Blessed

Some days I just feel blessed. Life with 3 boys can be quite something at times. Today while thinking of my boys I simply feel blessed. They are healthy, happy and beautiful boys. We met Aunt Kel Kel for lunch today. Hot dogs and donuts at Sandy's. I bet we were there for almost an hour, enjoying every minute. Such little things can be so much fun!

Bop, bop or Bup, bup

Listen carefully, there's a big difference in the two words above. I believe there are times that I am the only person that is able to uncode what the Levite is saying. For example, bop, bop - refers to his pacifier where bup, bup - refers to his brother Jakob. In the event that he does not know what something is he has decided that appoe (sounds very much like "apple") pretty much covers it. It started out with yogurt. It took me a few weeks to figure it out but I now know appoe is yogurt for sure, although last night appoe was also butterflies in the book we were reading and the crackers he couldn't quite reach in the cupbaord.

Number 1

Jerry and I sometimes refer to the boys as #1, #2 and #3. We do this when we don't want them to know we are talking about them. This used to work great, I say used to work because recently Jakob, affectionately known as #1, does not like to be referred to as such. He would much rather be #3 for some reason. He thinks because he is the oldest he should be the largest number. Anyway, #1 was having issues with putting his own shoes on before church today. I was bending down on the dirty rug in the mudroom with church pants on explaining that I think most 5 year olds put on their own shoes, they may need some help to tie, but at least they put their own shoes on. His reply.... "Well MOM, this 5 year doesn't! So, will you help me please."

Becoming a blogger

It's high time I start documenting my life. I never want to be one of those grandma's that says "my kids never did that" . I am hoping this will be my way of remembering these busy years and all those "things" my kiddos do (the good, the bad and the ugly). It has been a blurrr since my youngest was born and there are just too many funny stories I don't want to ever forget. So... this is the beginning, my first post, my chance to get it all out there. I love these boys and am looking forward to sharing the "story" of my life and theirs.
